Family of Worker Killed in Kyle Field Accident Sues

The family of a construction working who fell to his death at Texas A&M’s Kyle Field this month has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the six companies involved in the expansion project.

Angel Garcia was operating a front end loader at the time of the accident. According to the lawsuit, Garcia plunged from the 4th story of the building when a piece of concrete fell and toppled the machine over the edge.

Garcia is survived by two small children, two bothers and a mother.

Attorney Jason Gibson said Garcia’s death could have been prevented.

“This was 100 percent preventable,” said Gibson. “This should not have happened.”

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages, but Gibson said no amount of compensation could ease the family’s pain.

“They’re all grieving right now,” said Gibson. “What the family really hopes to do in this case is to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

The companies named in the lawsuit are J.T. Vaughn Construction, LLC; Manhattan Construction. Co., Inc.; Manhattan | Vaughn, JVP; Texas Curb Cut, Inc.; Texas Cutting & Coring Group, Inc.; and Lindamood Demolition, Inc.
